IPL Teams
There are a total of eight teams fighting it out with each other for the coveted title of IPL T20 champions. The teams represent the eight most “hot cities” on the tourism circuit. The owners called Franchisees of the teams are vi ritually the who’s who of Indian glitterati. So you could see corporate honchos, Media Barons rubbing shoulders with Bollywood Superstars all vying for the attention.
The IPL conceived as a city-based league format. So cricket fans accustomed to cheering for the country need to cheer for their city instead.
SO Jaipur, Mumbai, Mohali, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore and Delhi each with its own uniqueness and attractions has dawned new Avatars to battle for the onfield supremacy. The idea is to hook the fans with the city which as Indians we have never used to.
So the Jaipur team is christened as Rajasthan Royals, Delhi as Delhi Daredevils, Chennai as Chennai Super Kings, Hyderabad as Deccan Chargers, Mohali(Chandigarh) as Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata as Kolkata Knight Riders , Mumbai as Mumbai Indians and finally Bangalore as Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Each team has its own set of strategy to capture the market space and glamour forms an important quotient in this strategy. Cricket and Bollywood are two religions in India and mixing them and see what you get! Then are the cheerleaders, all goes in to to grab the some great attention on cricket and else…..
